Valentine's Day captions for small businesses
Valentine's is a booking occasion, not a browsing one. The posts that work are the ones that appear while people are still deciding where to go.

Written to each platform’s own rules — the hashtag block that belongs on Instagram is exactly what makes a Google Business post look like spam.

A quiet reminder that flowers are not only for partners. We've sent a lot of bouquets over the years to mums, to best friends, to someone having a hard month, and to people buying for themselves. All of those count. Bouquets from £35, local delivery on the 14th for orders in by 11am. Tell us who it's for and we'll pick the colours.

The arc these belong in
One caption is not a campaign. This is the shape that works, and it is the same four phases Occasely plans automatically.
- Teaser2 weeks beforeWhat you are doing for the day, and that bookings are open.
- Build-up1 week beforeThe menu, the bouquet, the package — with prices, and how many slots are left.
- Offer3 days beforeThe last-chance post. This is where the forgetful money is.
- Last dayOn the dayWalk-ins, last bouquets, what is still available right now.
Why this occasion is worth posting for
- Restaurant and salon bookings are made one to two weeks ahead — after that you are selling to people who forgot.
- The last 48 hours are enormous for florists and gift shops and worth a post of their own.
- Not everyone is buying for a partner; the businesses that acknowledge that reach a much larger audience.
Three mistakes worth avoiding
Only selling to couples
A large share of Valentine's spending is for friends, family and self-gifting. Copy that only speaks to couples cuts your audience for no reason.
Posting on the 13th
Bookings are gone by then. The 13th post should be for last-minute buyers, not the first anyone hears of your offer.
No price
A set menu without a price makes people call to ask, and most will not. Put the number in the caption.
Copying one caption is the easy part
The work is the other eleven posts: written for your business, in your language, dated across three weeks, and actually published while you are serving customers. Describe your shop once and Occasely does that for Valentine's Day and every occasion after it.
Plan Valentine's Day in OccaselyQuestions
- When should Valentine's posts start?
- Two weeks out for anything that needs booking, one week out for gifts, and again three days before for the last-minute buyers — who are a bigger group than most businesses expect.
- What performs best on the day itself?
- Availability. What is still open, what is left, and how to get it in the next few hours. Nobody is browsing on the 14th; they are solving a problem.
- Can Occasely write this for my kind of business?
- Yes — it writes from your brand profile, so a florist, a salon and a restaurant get genuinely different posts rather than the same template with the name swapped.
