Occasely vs Hootsuite
Hootsuite is a full social suite — publishing, inbox, listening, ads — sold by the seat. Occasely does less, costs less, and answers a different question: what goes out for Diwali, and on which days.
The short answer
Hootsuite and Occasely are not really chasing the same buyer. Hootsuite is a full suite — publishing, inbox, listening, sentiment, ads, reporting — built for mid-market and enterprise teams and priced by the seat: at the Standard tier it was $99 per user per month when we researched its plans in July 2026, annual billing, with no free plan since 2023. That price buys real things we do not have: performance analytics, social listening, an inbox, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest. Occasely is narrower on purpose. It starts before the composer: you name an occasion — Diwali, Black Friday, Eid, Christmas — and it plans a dated multi-post arc, writes every post for each platform, and schedules it across nine channels. Growth is $19/mo, Pro is $39/mo, and neither counts seats. If your problem is measuring and monitoring a brand across a team, Hootsuite is the better tool and we will not pretend otherwise. If your problem is that the occasion passes and nothing went out, that is the one we built for.
What Hootsuite is genuinely good at
A whole suite, not one job
Publishing, a unified inbox, listening, sentiment and ads sit in one product. If your week involves replying to comments, watching brand mentions and reporting on both, Hootsuite covers that spread. Occasely generates and publishes content. It does none of the rest.
Analytics we simply do not have
Hootsuite reports on performance and adds AI-assisted listening and sentiment at its higher tiers. Occasely's analytics are delivery only: published, queued, failed, per network. No reach, no engagement, no follower growth. If numbers drive your decisions, that gap is the whole answer.
More networks, deeper integrations
Hootsuite publishes to TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest and handles WhatsApp messaging in its inbox. We publish to none of those. Its integration ecosystem is the deepest in this category, so it fits into stacks we cannot reach.
An established vendor with a training track
Hootsuite has been the default answer for years, with certification courses and the procurement paperwork ready to go. Occasely is pre-launch and in private beta, with no customer counts or case studies to show you. That difference matters when you are buying for a team.
Where Occasely is the better fit
The campaign is the unit of work
Hootsuite's OwlyWriter drafts captions, turns a link into a post and repurposes what already performed. You still decide what the campaign is. In Occasely you name the occasion and get the arc back: teaser, build-up, offer, last-day push, every post written and dated. Nothing else in the nine tools we researched plans at that level.
$19, and nobody counts seats
When we researched Hootsuite's plans, Standard was $99 per user per month, annual billing only, with no free plan. Occasely has a free tier, Growth at $19/mo and Pro at $39/mo, the same price worldwide in USD, annual billed at ten months. No per-seat maths and no per-channel maths — every channel type is open on any paid plan, with Growth connecting six at a time and Pro twelve.
Fitted to the network, and to the language
18+ language styles, including Hinglish, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese. Text generation is unlimited on paid plans; image generation lives in Creative Studio and is metered by credits. Per our research Hootsuite's AI has no native image generation, and the reviewers we read fault its captions as generic and not well fitted to each network.
The small-business jobs nobody else bundles
Google Business review replies drafted in your voice, with you approving before anything publishes — our research lists Google reviews under Hootsuite's coverage too, so what differs is that the draft arrives already written. Telegram and Discord as real publishing channels, neither of which our research lists for Hootsuite. An MCP server so Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, Gemini CLI or Windsurf can read your workspace and queue drafts — never publish, never spend an image credit. And every publish attempt logged with a readable failure reason, then retried.

When to pick Hootsuite instead
- You need to measure and monitor, not just publish. Reach, engagement, follower growth, brand mentions, sentiment, an inbox for incoming comments and messages. Occasely reports delivery only and has none of that.
- TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest or WhatsApp are real channels for you. We support nine networks and none of those are among them; our LinkedIn support is personal profiles only.
- You are buying for a team or a client roster: multiple seats, assignment routing, approval workflows, procurement, an established vendor with support and training. Occasely has no per-seat plans and is still in private beta.
If the occasion is the part you keep missing
Describe your business once. Occasely plans the arc for every occasion that matters to it, writes each post for the channel it is going to, and holds the queue until you approve.
Questions
- Is Occasely a drop-in Hootsuite replacement?
- For publishing and for writing the content, often yes. For the rest, no. Occasely has no inbox, no social listening, no ads and no performance analytics — ours reports delivery only: published, queued, failed, per network. If your team bought Hootsuite to monitor and report, keep it. If they bought it mainly to schedule posts they still had to think up themselves, that part we do differently.
- How does the pricing actually compare?
- When we researched Hootsuite's plans in July 2026, Standard was $99 per user per month with annual billing and no free plan, and Professional and Advanced went up from there. Occasely has a free tier, Growth at $19/mo and Pro at $39/mo, in USD worldwide, with no per-seat or per-channel charges. Vendor pricing moves, so check hootsuite.com/plans before you decide anything on the strength of our numbers.
- Which networks does each tool publish to?
- Occasely publishes to nine: Instagram, Facebook, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn (personal profiles, not Company Pages), Telegram, X, Threads, Bluesky and Discord. Discord goes through a channel webhook, so those posts come back without a permalink. Our research lists Hootsuite as covering Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads and Google Business Profile, plus WhatsApp messaging in its inbox — but not Telegram, Bluesky or Discord. If TikTok or YouTube are core to you, we are not an option yet.
- Hootsuite has OwlyWriter and Wisdom. Is that not the same AI?
- Same family, different altitude. Those features draft, repurpose and recommend at the level of a single post, and you still own the plan. Occasely's AI starts at the plan: an occasion goes in, a dated multi-post campaign comes out, written per platform in your brand's voice. It also generates images, which per our research Hootsuite's AI does not do natively.
- Occasely is in private beta. Should I just wait?
- Depends what you are replacing. If Hootsuite is running a team's inbox, listening and reporting, do not move — we do not do any of that, and waiting will not change it soon. If it is a seat you are mostly using to schedule posts, the free tier costs nothing to connect two channels and judge whether the writing sounds like you. Occasion campaigns start on Growth at $19/mo. We have no customer counts, testimonials or awards to show you yet, and we would rather say so than pad the page.
