Occasely vs Later
Later is built to make an Instagram grid look right. Occasely is built to make an occasion campaign exist — teaser, build-up, offer, last day, every post written and dated before the date arrives.
The short answer
These tools solve different halves of the same week. Later solves presentation: it is the best visual Instagram planner in the category, it has a media library, Link in Bio with Shopify attribution, influencer campaigns, and real post performance analytics — all things Occasely does not have. Occasely solves the blank page before that: name an occasion and it plans a multi-post campaign, writes every post for its platform, and dates them across the run-up. Later's AI stops at captions and is the most tightly credit-rationed of any tool we researched — 5 credits a month on the entry plan when we checked it. The other real split is channels. Later reaches TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Snapchat; Occasely reaches Google Business Profile, Telegram, X, Bluesky and Discord. Neither list contains the other. So the honest test is which half of the problem is actually costing you: if it is making Instagram look good and proving it worked, that is Later. If it is that Diwali or Black Friday keeps arriving with nothing planned, that is us.
What Later is genuinely good at
The best visual Instagram planning there is
Later's grid preview and media library are why people buy it, and nothing in Occasely competes. If you plan by dragging images around until the profile page looks right, Later is the tool for that job.
Link in Bio that ties back to sales
Later's Link in Bio includes Shopify attribution, so a post can be connected to revenue. Occasely has no equivalent and no attribution of any kind.
Influencer marketing in the same account
After the Mavrck acquisition, Later runs influencer campaigns alongside scheduling. That is a whole product category we do not operate in.
Four channels we simply do not have
TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Snapchat are all live on Later and none of them are live on Occasely. The overlap between the two channel lists is Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Threads.
Where Occasely is the better fit
Campaigns, not posts
Say "Diwali" or "Black Friday" and Occasely plans the whole arc — teaser, build-up, offer, last-day push — with every post written and placed on a date. Later gives you an empty calendar and a caption assistant.
AI that isn't rationed
Later's caption writer runs on monthly credits, 5 a month on the entry plan when we researched it, and reviewers rate the output as middling. Occasely's text generation is unlimited on paid plans. Only image generation in Creative Studio is metered by credits, and it says so before you spend one.
The channels Later dropped or never had
Google Business Profile, Telegram, X, Bluesky and Discord are live on Occasely and absent from Later — Later has no Google Business Profile or Telegram at all, and its X support was removed or downgraded. Google Business also brings review replies: reviews sync, the AI drafts a response in your voice, and you approve it before it posts.
Language is a setting, not a rewrite
18+ language styles, picked once and applied to every post in the arc. And every publish attempt is logged with a plain-English failure reason and retried, so a post never quietly disappears.
Side by side
| Dimension | Occasely | Later |
|---|---|---|
| Where you start | Name an occasion. Get a dated arc back: teaser, build-up, offer, last day. | Open a calendar and build the grid post by post, visually. |
| Channels | Instagram, Facebook, Google Business, LinkedIn profiles, Telegram, X, Threads, Bluesky, Discord. Six connected at once on Growth, twelve on Pro. | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Threads, Snapchat. No GBP. |
| AI depth | Unlimited text generation on paid plans. Only image generation costs credits. | Caption writer and ideas, rationed by credits — 5 a month on Starter when we looked. |
| Performance analytics | Delivery only: published, queued, failed per network. No reach, engagement or followers. | Real post analytics, history length gated by plan. Better than ours, plainly. |
| Link in Bio and influencers | Neither. We publish and log. No storefront links, no influencer campaigns. | Link in Bio with Shopify attribution, plus an influencer marketing arm (Mavrck). |
| How the bill scales | Flat plan price. No per-seat, no per-channel, no social-set maths. | Per social set, per extra user, per AI credit pack. Multi-brand costs multiply. |
| Entry cost (as researched) | Free tier, then Growth $19/mo, Pro $39/mo. Annual is ten months' price. | No permanent free plan. Starter was $25/mo, capped at 30 posts per profile a month. |
When to pick Later instead
- Instagram is the business, or you also need TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest or Snapchat. Occasely publishes to none of those four, and Later's visual grid planning is still the best in the category.
- You need to prove that social drives revenue. Later's Link in Bio with Shopify attribution and its post performance analytics do that. Occasely's analytics stop at delivery — published, queued, failed — with no reach or engagement data at all.
- You run influencer campaigns. Later has an influencer marketing arm through its Mavrck acquisition. Occasely has nothing in that space and no plan to pretend otherwise.
If the occasion is the part you keep missing
Describe your business once. Occasely plans the arc for every occasion that matters to it, writes each post for the channel it is going to, and holds the queue until you approve.
Questions
- Is Occasely a drop-in replacement for Later?
- No. If your business lives on Instagram and you plan by looking at how the grid will look, Later does that better than we do. It also publishes to TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Snapchat, which we do not support at all. What Occasely replaces is the part before scheduling: sitting down six weeks out and working out what to post for Diwali, Black Friday, Eid or Christmas. Name the occasion and the posts come back written and dated.
- Can I use both?
- Yes, and some people should. Later for the Instagram grid and Link in Bio, Occasely for the occasion campaigns going out to Google Business Profile, Telegram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Bluesky and Discord. The only rule is to pick one tool per channel, or the same post goes out twice.
- Which one is cheaper?
- It depends on how many brands you run, and prices change, so check both pages before deciding. When we researched Later's pricing in mid-2026, Starter was $25/mo billed monthly ($18.75 annual) for one social set, one user, 30 posts per profile per month and 5 AI credits, with no permanent free plan. Extra sets, extra users and extra AI credits were priced separately. Occasely has a free tier, Growth at $19/mo and Pro at $39/mo, with annual billed at ten months' price, no per-seat and no per-channel charge.
- What should I check before committing to either tool?
- Read the current reviews and the current channel list yourself, for both of us. Two things from our July 2026 research are worth verifying: Later's Trustpilot score was 1.7 out of 5 at the time, with complaints clustering on billing and cancellation rather than on the product, and its X support had been removed or downgraded. Scores and channel lists both move. The same caution applies to us: we are in private beta, and we do not publish to TikTok, YouTube or Pinterest.
- What does Later do that Occasely does not claim to do?
- Post performance analytics, Link in Bio with Shopify attribution, influencer campaigns through Mavrck, a visual grid preview, and four channels we do not touch. Our analytics are delivery only: published, queued, failed, per network, with a readable reason on every failure. There is no reach, engagement or follower data anywhere in Occasely, and we are not going to imply otherwise on a comparison page.
